We Want Your Rock...

We told you the benchmark for a Your Rock Playlist is an email from Corporate with the subject “WTF?”

Let us read you an email we’ve received:

Dear minions:

Heard the promo with the joke about emails from corporate.  LOL.  You’re funny.

XOXO,
Corporate

Oh, we’re here to amuse you?  Let us be clear.  Your Rock Mondays are no laughing matter.  We’re not doing our jobs, unless your lists make our bosses crazy.  Maybe neither of us is trying hard enough.

Submit your list below. Be bold, be daring, don’t f*** it up, and don’t stop until the VP’s at HQ stop LOL'ing.

Yes, sign me up for the K-List. I want to receive emails every few weeks about exclusive concert ticket pre-sales, extra chances to win K-Rock prizes, and “leaks” about station concerts and contests before they are announced on the air.

Here are some tips for making a Your Rock list good enough to make it on-air:

1. Choose your songs wisely.

One” by Metallica definitely rocks… But if everyone else in the tri-state area puts it in a playlist, we start getting a little bored with it. And yes, we get it… Guitar Hero rules. But we’re getting a little tired of the Guitar Hero themed playlists.

2. Mix it up.

You want to choose some stuff the K-Rock audience is going to know, but don’t make it all so generic that it sounds like the suits are picking the music. You want to be out there, but not so out there that a college metal station in Jersey wouldn’t even play it.

3. Get creative.

Come up with a theme (“songs about drinking,” “one word song titles,” “bands with dead lead singers,” etc). If you’re not up to a theme, at least use the “Got Something To Say?” box wisely. What often puts a playlist over the top is a well thought-out or funny writeups explaining why you chose the songs. Even “I’m totally drunk and these are the first 10 songs I thought of” is better than nothing. Separate yourself from all the other submissions we get. A lot of you guys can pick great songs, but tell us something about you. Why should your playlist get on-air over someone else’s?

* We may swap a song or two... Your list may rock, but it contains a track that we have used in someone else's list that we just played. We'll swap it for a different song by that artist.
